Create discount coupons

A coupon is a code, like WELCOME10, that guests type when booking to get a discount. Use it for campaigns, social media, influencers or returning guests.

How they work

  • The discount can be a Percentage (1 to 90%) or a Fixed amount.
  • It applies to the price of the stay (nights and extra guests), after promotions. If those nights already have a promotion, guests get both.
  • It doesn't discount the extras guests add to their booking.
  • A fixed amount never takes the stay below zero.
  • Guests type the code in Have a discount code?, next to their booking summary, and see the discount before paying. Upper or lower case doesn't matter.

Create a coupon

  1. Go to Rates → Coupons tab and click New coupon.
  2. Type the Code: letters, numbers, hyphens or underscores, no spaces. For example WELCOME10 or MARIA20.
  3. Under Discount type, choose Percentage or Fixed amount and enter the value.
  4. If you want it to have dates, fill in Valid from (optional) and Expires on (optional). They're based on the day the booking is made, not the dates of the stay. The coupon works until the end of the expiry day.
  5. In Number of uses (optional), enter how many bookings can use it. Leave it empty for no limit.
  6. In Minimum nights (optional) you can require a minimum stay, for example 3 nights.
  7. Under Rooms, tick where it applies. If you don't tick any, it works for all of them.
  8. Click Create coupon.

Share your coupon

In the coupon list, each one has two buttons:

  • Copy: copies just the code, to put in a post or a message.
  • Copy link: copies the link to your page with the code already filled in. Anyone who comes through that link has it applied when booking, without typing anything.

Uses, pausing and expiry

  • Each coupon shows its Uses: the confirmed or awaiting-payment bookings that used it. If a booking is cancelled or expires unpaid, that use is freed up.
  • Pause turns it off without deleting it, and it shows as Paused. Turn it back on with Activate.
  • After the expiry date it shows as Expired, and when it reaches its usage limit, as Used up. In both cases guests can no longer use it.
  • The pencil opens the coupon to change it. The bin deletes it; bookings that already used it keep their discount.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I see which bookings used a coupon?

In the booking details, the price is broken down and the coupon shows with its code and discount. See booking details.

Can a guest use two coupons on the same booking?

No. Each booking takes a single coupon.

A guest says their code doesn't work

When they apply it, your page tells them why: the code doesn't exist or is paused, it expired, it reached its usage limit, it doesn't apply to that room, or the stay is shorter than the minimum nights. Check the coupon in the Coupons tab.

Does changing a coupon affect existing bookings?

No. Bookings keep the discount they had when they were made.
